Hi I am Lesley and I am the Programme Co-ordinator for the Glasgow Office. 

We are currently involved in the Commonwealth Apprenticeship Initiative (CAI), but our main project is Closing the Gap (CtG).   CtG and CAI are both aimed at reducing the numbers of pupils leaving mainstream and special educational needs schools that may go onto a ‘no positive destination’ or in other words ‘not into further education or employment’. 

The most enjoyable part of my job is the raising number of success stories from pupils that have secured further education or employment through our assistance – it shows that we are making a definite impact on the young people of Glasgow. 

We have a huge number of organisations that take part in various activities within our schools i.e. Carousels, Mentoring, Mock Interviews, Work Shadowing, etc. and this is a great way for them to raise their CSR levels, which is top of SBC’s agenda!
