Reducing worklessness and improving the nations health is a key priority for SBC, our members and the Scottish Executive.
Generation Y (born after 1978) has now entered the workforce. They have identified an organisations commitment to social responsibility as a significant factor when deciding who to work for.
In a recent survey, 98% of employees thought that mental health should be a company concern.
There is a very clear link between health and work. Evidence shows that work can be therapeutic and help reverse the adverse health effects of unemployment. SBC and our members subsequently recgonise that Scotland’s future depends on improving assess to work for individuals who are at a distance from the labour market
Scottish Business in the Community is working in partnership with the Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives to help reduce inequality and improve the nation’s health by encouraging and supporting our members and businesses to engage with the employability agenda.

Maree has been appointed as Employability Manager and is in a joint role with Scottish Business in the Community and the Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives.
