Think Ahead to Work (Careers Workshops)

What is a Think Ahead to Work Event?

Two or more staff members will work together to deliver a short interactive workshop about their roles and industry to secondary and primary school pupils. This  workshop will bring the world of work to life in a fun and interactive way.

The workshops prepare pupils to think about their futures by building understanding about the range of roles available and the qualifications and skills needed.

How will your staff benefit?

Your staff will develop skills in:

• Working as a team
• Being creative and innovative
• Enhance their communication skills

What support is provided?

SBC will make arrangements for your participation in a Think Ahead to Work event. We will provide information about structuring your workshop and a telephone briefing before the day.

How much time does it take?

Each event lasts for 2 hours during which you will deliver your 20 minute workshop 4 times to different groups of pupils. There will be some preparation beforehand.

I really enjoyed the workshop because I got a chance to find out about other people’s jobs. I have learned lots about the skills you will need for jobs.  I now know that there is going to be a lot of work to put in for some jobs.  I think it helps when we get shown people’s jobs because you get a clearer understanding A Primary 7 pupil from Clermiston Primary School
