SBC Glasgow’s Interim Report covering the period from 1st July to 31st December 2011 has highlighted the activities that are involved in to support a range of employability activities across the City.

As in previous years, SBC has worked with colleagues from Glasgow City Council’s Vocational Training Team and school-based staff to involve businesses in events and initiatives designed to meet the broad range of needs of young people about to leave school.

Employer involvement has ranged from providing input and information at career awareness events and site/workplace visits providing young people with a better understanding of the world of work; advising young people about to leave school on the completion of job applications and providing young people with the experience of a mock interview.

Over the period of the report SBC has supported more that 30 events with SBC Member/business involvement attended by more than 1100 young people. Feedback from young people, schools, Glasgow City Council and other agencies continues to be very positive and businesses continue to see very positive results from their employees’ participation.

SBC Glasgow would like to thank all the businesses and their employees who supported our activities this year.
