The Leadership Groups consist of key SBC partners at Government level and dynamic SBC members who are showing leadership, often pushing the boundaries on a critical CSR issue. The Leadership Groups aim to drive forward this CSR issue, influencing and supporting other SBC members and Scottish businesses. They are also a mechanism for businesses to help shape Government agenda and work more collaboratively.

Talent and Skills Leadership Group

This Leadership Group consists of forward thinking SBC members leading on the skills and employability agenda. Their vision is to help increase Scottish business competitiveness by raising awareness of how employers and their staff can benefit from engaging with young people and unemployed adults.

The employers on the Leadership group recognise that:

  • People are their vital asset and need to be given challenging opportunities to develop their skills and
  • It is in their interest to look longer term and ensure that all of Scotland’s people are ready to compete internationally when the current situation changes.

The businesses on the group lead by providing innovative staff development opportunities that also support young people and unemployed adults.

Over the past year, the Group has:

  • Commissioned and taken part in a unique piece of research that identified the business benefits of engaging with young people and unemployed adults.
  • Hosted breakfast and lunch events
  • Led on the successful Scotland’s Got Talent campaign, which has engaged employers previously unaware of this critical CSR issue.
