Who
The Kingdom Shopping Centre is in Glenrothes, Fife.  As there is no high street, the Kingdom Centre is the town centre and prime retailing location in Glenrothes. The Centre is owned by CIS, managed by NB Real Estate and serves around 180,000 visitors per week. The Centre has 43 employees plus outsourced contracted staff of 14 security guards, 11 housekeepers and three customer service officers.

Community

  • The Kingdom Centre sponsors a community police officer by funding their annual salary
  • Mall space is reserved in the Centre every month for the Crime Prevention Panel
  • The Centre holds monthly community partner meetings

Inclusion

  • The Centre provides the charity Shopmobility with space for a large office, 10 dedicated Shopmobility parking spaces and funds the salaries for two part-time assistants totalling £14,500

Health

  • Mall space is provided to NHS Fife so that they can run a weekly health point, the Kingdom Centre Well Person Shop run by specialist health professionals offers support, advice and some health monitoring services to the public

Environment

  • The Kingdom Shopping Centre actively monitors efficiency and investigates ways to reduce use of energy, waste, water and traffic

Why
The Centre Manager and Marketing Manager are involved in the establishment and overall management of corporate social responsibility programmes. An ongoing review of local community needs is undertaken, and all opportunities for community activities are assessed to ensure that they meet researched and identified local needs as per the Kingdom Centre corporate social responsibility policy. All community activity is regularly assessed against targets and objectives in order to ensure that significant community and business benefit is being achieved.
