Glasgow Regional Leadership Group

Businesses have a crucial role to play in supporting and contributing to the economic development of the City. At SBC we are uniquely placed to encourage, support and maximise business participation and we are keen to work with our colleagues from Glasgow City Council to develop a 3 year Strategic Plan for employability activities across the City.

Responsibility for developing, delivering and monitoring the Strategic Plan will rest with the SBC Glasgow Leadership Group. We are currently reviewing the membership of this Group and it will have its inaugural meeting over the coming weeks.

Over the last eighteen months Scottish Business in the Community has supported a range of activities designed to improve the employability skills of young people across Glasgow, particularly those about to leave school. SBC has encouraged and supported 91 Glasgow-based businesses providing in excess of 250 employee days, at more than 45 events. These activities which included an extensive programme of mock interviews, business/sector awareness raising sessions and visits to employers premises impacted on more than 1900 young people across the City.

Over the coming year we will support SBC Member organisations’ Corporate Social Responsibility by continuing and growing our already strong commitment to improving the employability of young people across Glasgow working in partnership.
