Report Back begins for May Day Companies in Scotland

In 2008, May Day Companies pledged to take action against climate change through the Prince’s May Day Network. In order to gauge the success of the Network and identify where we need to concentrate efforts over the next year we require companies to “report back” annually.

Report back for the period 2008-2009 is now open and all May Day Companies are requested to report back to on their progress with the pledges they made in 2008 and to highlight the good work being done to tackle climate change by Scottish companies.

Report back can be done through an online survey available on the national May Day website. The online survey is now open and will remain so until 20 March 2009.

Each business in the May Day Network is strongly encouraged, as a minimum, to provide the following data through report back:

  • Their carbon emissions over the past year
  • Their annual turnover and procurement spend

This data will enable the May Day Network to plot a carbon footprint against the UK economy between 2008 and 2012.

By reporting this data, companies will be eligible to use the latest Prince’s May Day Network logo in their communications for the next annual period of 2009-2010.

In addition, companies are also asked to report-back on the specific pledges they signed up to so that we can provide the Network with further case studies of support and profile the good work that companies are doing.

In Scotland, in addition to being fed-back to HRH, a selection of Scottish case studies will highlighted as examples of best practice on 1st May 2009, in a May Day report and on Scottish Business in the Community's website.

The report-back survey along with detailed supporting information can now be found on the national May Day website.

There are a number of avenues open to businesses seeking assistance with tackling their climate change impacts. Nationally, support in making your pledges can be found on the May Day Journey - a new online tool to guide your business along the low carbon journey step-by-step.
