UK Awards for Excellence & SBC Regional Awards 2012

The Awards for Excellence are one of the most credible and influential award schemes for corporate responsibility and celebrate companies who are delivering successful responsible business programmes at local, national and international levels. 
 
Judged by Corporate Responsibility professionals from a range of business sectors, these are national award categories open to all sizes of business and they are free to enter.
 
Categories span environmental, community, workplace and marketplace programmes and the search is now on to find inspiring examples of companies that have identified a societal or environmental need and are demonstrating real impact in addressing it. 
 
SBC Large Company of the Year
 
If you are an SBC Member and apply for a category in the 2012 Awards for Excellence programme, you will be eligible for the prestigious SBC Large Company of the Year Award which demonstrates committed and long term stewardship of your organisation and aligns your values and business strategy with the future needs of society and the planet. 
  • Applications will be open for entries for this regional category from January 2012 and will be made available on the SBC website.
     
SBC SME of the Year
 
SBC recognises the achievements of the Scottish-based SME Sector that through leadership and integration of corporate responsibility are improving their business and their overall impact on society. This award is only open to independent trading organisations with no parent company, employing less than 250 (or full time equivalent). We only accept entries from privately owned companies, not social enterprises.
  • Applications will be open for entries for this regional category from January 2012 and will be made available on the SBC website.

 

SBC Small Medium Enterprise Tackling Poverty Award

This award will recognise small and medium size businesses that provide real opportunities for work experience and jobs for people within their own communities, who can demonstrate that they are tackling poverty through fostering sustainable business and employment practices. 

  • Applications will only be open to independent trading organisations with no parent company, employing less than 250 (or fill time equivalent).  We only accept entries from privately owned companies, not social enterprises.  Applications will be open for entries for this regional category from January 2012 and will be made available on the SBC website.

 

SBC Social Enterprise Tackling Poverty Impact Award

This award is for Social Enterprises who can demonstrate that they are going beyond their core business, in working with Small Medium Enterprises in Scotland, to tackle poverty through fostering sustainable business and employment practices targeted on the working age group.

  • Applications will be open for entries for this regional category from January 2012 and will be made available on the SBC website.  This award is open to Social Enterprise members and non members of SBC with no parent company. 
 
 
SBC Employee Volunteering Awards
 
This award is for an individual or team of employees whose commitment and dedication to volunteering activities have achieved the greatest impact on communities or the environment in Scotland.
 
  • Applications will be open for entries for this regional category from January 2012 and will be made available on the SBC website.
 
 

SBC 30th Anniversary Gala Awards Dinner

Next year is the 30th Anniversary of Scottish Business in the Community and to mark this occasion we are planning to host a gala dinner in May 2012 in conjunction with Business in the Community's UK Awards for Excellence and Scottish Business in the Community's Regional Awards.
 
At this glittering occasion there will be an opportunity to recognise, reward and celebrate the impact Scottish businesses are having in the community, as well as the chance to showcase examples of excellence, share best practice and network with key stakeholders including; business, government and the media.
 
Highlights at the event will include the announcement of the Scottish 'Big Tick' winners of the UK Awards for Excellence, the Employee Volunteering Awards and the SBC Large Company and SME of the Year Awards.

Re-accreditation for previous winners
 
If your company was awarded a Big Tick in 2011 and can demonstrate the continuing positive impact of itsaward-winning initiative, you can apply to have it updated through our re-accreditation scheme. This option is only available to companies that won a Big Tick for the first time in 2011 and 2010 winners that
opted to re-accredit their scheme last year.

SBC Awards for Excellence Workshops
 
Entry to the awards is open to all private sector businesses and organisations from other sectors that are Members of SBC or Business in the Community and we are holding free workshops for anyone who wants to know more about the awards process and understand how to make the best possible application.
 
The awards workshops will enable you to meet and learn from your peers. It will be an interactive workshop with several practical hands-on exercises that get you thinking about how to measure your impact. It also presents a unique opportunity to hear directly from those that have achieved a Big Tick.
 
This is your chance to ask the questions that will help you learn how to succeed.
