Alcohol Awareness Week 2010

This year Alcohol Awareness Week will be taking place from Monday 4 - Sunday 10 October.

It will be the fourth time that the drinks industry, health professionals, the voluntary sector and the Scottish Government have joined forces to encourage a culture of responsible drinking within Scotland

The theme of Alcohol Awareness Week 2010 is ‘How do you measure up? Make every day count’ and the aim of the week is to get Scots thinking about how many units of alcohol they are drinking and to stick to the sensible drinking guidelines of not regularly drinking more than 3-4 units per day for men and 2-3 units per day for women.

The main focus of activity will be to educate the public about sensible drinking guidelines and unit measures and we’re currently planning a programme of events and initiatives that will take part throughout Scotland during the week. We’re also talking to partners from a range of organisations including local authorities, licensing forums, transport, sport and leisure services about how they can work with us to get the message out to the Scottish public about enjoying alcohol responsibly.

A toolkit with case studies and ideas of what to do in Alcohol Awareness Week 2010 will be available shortly, as will an updated website (alcoholawarenessweek.com). Posters will also be available to download and print locally from the website along with desktop wallpapers, banners and a button which can be used on your company’s website, intranet pages or as an email signature.

We hope that your organisation will be able to support Alcohol Awareness Week 2010.
