BT Work Inspiration Event
On the 14th November2011, over 20 BT staff hosted a Work Inspiration Event at Alexander Bain House, Glasgow for 30 S4 pupils from Hyndland, Smithycroft & Springburn Secondary Schools.
The full day event assisted pupils with many aspects of employability.
The morning included sessions such as All About Me – Session to discover what kind of skills, talents, passions and interests the pupils have and how they can use these when they start work followed by a discussion about the Power of Words – what do words mean to pupils? Language, attitude, enthusiasm – is it really about the words or the meaning behind them?
The afternoon sessions focused more on applications forms, interviews and the effects of social websites and how they can affect you getting a job.
At the end of the event each pupil received a Certificate for their participation.
Laura McGowan, S4 pupil from Springburn Academy said -“The session that helped me the most was the one about interviews as I didn’t know how to do one but I do now.”
Wendy Onabule, S4 pupil from Springburn Academy said “The event was very insightful and educational. I enjoyed the part about Facebook as it showed you how it can affect you getting a job.”
