Where women want to work - Clydesdale makes Top 50

28 Jan 2008

Each year Aurora, who run the wheretowork.com company comparison jobsite, conduct a Where Women Want To Work TOP 50.  The TOP 50 provides insightful information about 50 of the UK's largest and most progressive employers. Whereas men often apply for careers based first on salary, second on the job and third on the organisation, women tend to research and compare organisations based on their own needs and interests before choosing where to work. SBC member company Clydesdale Bank has been named as one of the Top 50.

Companies are judged on the following five criteria:

Opportunity
CRITERIA: What does your organisation do in the business world that presents an exciting and challenging opportunity for employees? How do you market this?

Progressiveness
CRITERIA: What forward-thinking employee initiatives demonstrate that you are a progressive employer - e.g. recruitment campaigns, flexible working, training and development, equal pay reviews, networking, inspiring role-models, childcare, etc? What are the successful outcomes of these initiatives?

Diversity
CRITERIA: What is the diverse composition of your organisation? How is your workforce diversity encouraged and achieved?

Connectivity
CRITERIA: How modern are your technology and infrastructural processes to allow better employee work flexibility and mobility, transparent access to information, efficient processes, etc?

Responsibility
CRITERIA: How does your organisation demonstrate its corporate social and environmental responsibility? What is your successful impact and contribution to the world? Why are you a good organisation to work for, where employees are proud to work?

Julie Ward, Diversity Manager at National Australia Group said "Our application featured many of the initiatives we have been focussing on over the past year, for example, flexible working for all, childcare vouchers, diversity e-learning modules, equal pay review, diversity monitoring, family friendly policies and benefits to name but a few."

"This was our first application and we were delighted at our success in being included in the Top 50."
