UK announces artistic team for Music Theatre For All Fife sponsored by Shell U.K. Limited.

From today, 26 September, and all next week 120 young people from Beath, Inverkeithing and Lochgelly High Schools will take part in workshops with a team of professional artistic staff including Luke Sheppard (Director), Jodie Oliver (Music Director) and Tony Mills (Choreographer). 
 
In two days of workshops in schools the young people will work on material from YMT: UK's sucessful Edinburgh Fringe Festival show Missing Mel, a story about the day a teenager goes missing and the impact this has on her peers in school. This will be followed by five days of free workshops and rehearsals from 12 -16 October and a shortened version of Missing Mel will be performed in a free show at the Lochgelly Centre on Thursday 16 October at 7.00pm.
 
This is the first time YMT: UK has brought its successful Music Theatre For All school workshops to Scotland. This wonderful opportunity for local young people in Fife would not have been possible without the invaluable support of Shell U.K. Limited.  It is a unique chance for young people to work creatively with leading music theatre artists to experience music theatre in a fresh and dynamic way that will encourage a wider understanding and enjoyment of the genre.

Youth Music Theatre: UK is a national charity whose principal aim is the personal and creative development of young people through the medium of new musical theatre.  The company provides a wide range of residential workshops across the country as well as a variety of outreach projects, working with hundreds of young people from throughout the UK. 
 
Shell U.K Limited's social investment activities reflect their wider contribution to UK society. They target social investment in the areas of science education and helping business entrepreneurs.  In addition, they seek to strengthen community activities near their operations, encourage employees in their own voluntary work and support the UK's academic and cultural life.
 
After graduating in Drama from Bristol University Luke Sheppard founded Take Note Theatre and has recently finished working as Assistant Director to Sir Jonathan Miller. He was the choreographer on Youth Music Theatre: UK's award-wining show at last years Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the London revival. He has since worked with Peepolykus developing a musical at the National Theatre Studio. His directing credits include The Wonderful World of Dissocia (Wickham Theatre) and A Girl in a Car With a Man (Wickham Theatre), and he has choreographed for The Wild Party and Sweet Charity (both Winston Theatre). He directed both of Take Note's productions at this years Edinburgh Fringe. Luke is an experienced workshop leader and works with several children's theatre companies.
Jodie Oliver is from Edinburgh and a graduate from both Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and Edinburgh University. Recent credits as MD include Cabaret (Mountview), and as assistant MD, Titanic (Shaw Theatre), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Chelsea Theatre) and 2008 Mountview showcases (Criterion Theatre).  For YMT: UK Jodie is a composer/music director and has written the music and lyrics for 3 short musicals including, Aberfan and The Pearl an adaptation of the novel by John Steinbeck.  

Tony Mills is a contemporary dancer specialising in hip hop and breakdance.  He is a founder member and co-choreographer of Random Aspekts Crew and a regular dancer for Freshmess.  In addition Tony teaches hip hop, breakdance and contemporary dance throughout Scotland for CityMoves Dancespace, Aberdeen, The Space, Dundee and Dance Base, Edinburgh amongst others. Tony choreographed YMT: UK's acclaimed production of Missing Mel at this summers Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
