Enterprise and Employability
05 Oct 2007
A core part of Enterprise Rent a Car’s CSR strategy is Employability.
Khaled Shahbo, VP for Scotland and Northern Ireland is a very active and influential member of SBC’s Employability Leadership group. As an organisation they have also been involved with a local Edinburgh Employability agency, Women onto Work, for over 3 years now.
Women Onto Work run pre-vocational training courses for women who face barriers in accessing further education and paid employment. Through these courses the women not only increase their skills, confidence and financial independence but improve their lives and the lives of their family.
A key part of the success of this programme is engagement with local employers. Enterprise Rent a Car have been very active in their support including providing placements for the women, Sponsoring certificate ceremonies and releasing staff for mock interview preparation. Chris Turnbull, Area Manager for Enterprise Rent a Car currently sits on the board of Women onto Work. He brings valuable business expertise to the charity and has personally found gaining an insight into a different sector very beneficial. Chris stated that "Enterprise Rent a Car’s involvement with WOW has been extremely well received by staff and has provided valuable personal development opportunities for them."
