New Place - New Opportunities

Dick Bond describes his experiences in a new area.
"We came to Fife just 3 years ago to be near our daughter, son-in-law and grandsons.
I had already been involved in various activities so looked around to see what I might do in Fife. Why? I wanted to keep busy and make the community just a teeny bit better.
Finding somethng proved easy, smooth and pleasant thanks to Scottish Business in the Community (SBC) and its subsidiary the Senior Executive Programme (SEP) run locally by Charles Russell. Charities tell him the skills they need and he tries to match the people to the needs and does so with good humour, skill and judgement.
I help the charity LOST (The Lee O'Brien Solvent Trust) which was set up to help young people avoid the worst pitfalls of volatile substance abuse. About 60-70 young people die abusing volatile materials each year. Worthwhile? I think so."
SBC's Senior Executive Programme is one of the structured programmes of Scottish Business in the Community. Retired Managers and executives (men and women) use knowledge and skills gained in their business careers to assist voluntary groups, charitable organisations and social enterprises with any problems they may be experiencing, for example, business plans, financial advice, human resources, IT, Sales and Marketing.
