Halcrow keeps growth promise as 100th new employee joins!

10 Sept 2008

Global infrastructure consultancy Halcrow has delivered ahead of schedule its promise to create 100 new highly skilled jobs at its Glasgow office with the appointment of Janine Graham, a transport economist.

Janine’s appointment underlines the success of Halcrow in Scotland and brings the total number of employees at City Park to 370. Across Scotland, Halcrow now employs almost 700 staff in a wide range of engineering-based disciplines.

Donald Bell, regional director for Glasgow said, “We are delighted to welcome Janine to Halcrow, not only because she is a great asset to our team, but also because it proves that our direction and business plan for Scotland continues to be a success.

“When we opened our new office at City Park nearly two years ago, we believed we could make a real impact to the community, continuing to grow and develop our business. We have now delivered these 100 new jobs ahead of schedule.  This reflects the tremendous effort put in by all our staff in Glasgow.  In addition, our summer placement programme has also brought vital career experience to twenty local university students, ensuring Scotland will continue to produce world class infrastructure designers. We have also been working with local schools to develop talent for the future.”

Halcrow’s recent projects in the Glasgow area include the high profile Clyde Arc bridge, the refurbishment of Kelvingrove museum and the White Cart Flood Prevention Scheme.  Staff in Glasgow also work on projects round the world, ranging from Dublin to Dubai.

Commenting on her appointment, Janine Graham said, “Being named as 100th new employee was a big surprise, but for me it highlights why I wanted to join Halcrow in the first place.

“As a company, Halcrow is involved in a wide variety of projects worldwide and I was offered the opportunity to become a vital part of a multi-disciplinary team where I can really use my skills to bring insight and value to our clients.”
