Halcrow Gives Blood
17 Sep 2008
Big hearted members of staff at Halcrow’s Glasgow City Park office have donated almost 200 pints of blood in the last year after mobile blood units from the Scottish Blood Service were called in by managers.
At a request from staff, the company organised for two mobile blood units, which travel around city offices, to stop by in order to make giving blood more accessible for Halcrow employees.
Organiser Mary Love said:
“So far this year, we have donated a fantastic amount of blood and the response has been overwhelming from the staff.
“We started off sharing a bus with another company, but now there are now so many of our own staff willing to give blood, we get a dedicated one.”
Giving blood is something which is easy and takes just 15 minutes. By giving blood, three different patients could be helped from a single donation and just three teaspoons of blood can save the life of a premature baby.
Halcrow is committed to encouraging more staff to come forward and donate blood.
