ScottishPower parent Iberdrola improves score in DJSI
26 Sep 2007
ScottishPower parent Iberdrola has once again been recognised as a world leader in responsible business, following confirmation this month of its continued inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), with improved ratings over previous years.
DJSI is a leading international responsible business index, assessing companies across a broad range of economic, environmental and social criteria. Issues reviewed include corporate governance, risk management, branding, climate change, supply chain standards and labour practises.
Inclusion in the index is an important criterion for investors focusing on corporate responsibility matters, and will influence the investment decisions of asset managers in 15 countries who have licensed the DJSI family of indices for a variety of sustainability-driven portfolios. More broadly inclusion provides independent approval of the group’s long-term sustainability strategy.
The assessment of Iberdrola this year includes the activities of ScottishPower. ScottishPower’s Corporate Responsibility Manager Tom Barbour said “This endorsement from DJSI is really very positive, and shows that going forward we are part of a group as committed to responsible business, as ScottishPower has been in the past”.
