New SBC Grampian Board Members Facilitate Growth

25 April 2008

Today, 25th of April 2008, Scottish Business in the Community Grampian (SBC Grampian) can announce the appointment of three new Board members to support the dramatic growth of SBC Grampian's projects.  Autumn Green (Ernst & Young), Gordon McIntosh (Aberdeen City Council) and Dawn Lokey (ASCO Group Ltd) will contribute over 35 years of professional experience to enable SBC Grampian to build more productive relationships between business and local communities.

Alex Gauld, SBC Grampian manager, said: "I am thrilled to welcome Autumn, Dawn and Gordon to the SBC Grampian board at this crucial period of our development.  The number of local businesses using our services for team building to cultivate company morale has tripled in just one year. Our annual Sports Challenge has more than doubled the number of community groups taking part over the past three years. Since 2003, SBC Grampian has secured over £750K worth of community investment, improving the lives of over 16,000 local people. Our new board members will strength our team for the exciting chapter ahead".

Autumn Green works as an assurance services associate for Ernst & Young, her duties include conducting independent audits of a company's financial statements, but she brings much more than number crunching: "I bring a fresh new perspective and years of fundraising experience for a wide variety of organisations - from a women's shelter to top universities both in the UK and US. I look forward to becoming involved in every way I can, but most especially by helping businesses realise the many options for acting responsibly in the community - they can be real creators of change!"

Gordon McIntosh is the corporate director for Neighborhood Services South, Aberdeen City Council. He graduated from the University of Glasgow and later gained a post-graduate degree in Accountancy Studies from the University of Aberdeen. He believes that "listening and working closely with the communities are the key to success". Having worked for both the private and public sector, McIntosh affirms that, "joining the SBC Board will be really interesting, especially for my work with communities and regeneration of areas in Aberdeen".

Dawn Lokey is corporate communications manager of ASCO Group Ltd, and her internal and external communications skills are critical to promote corporate social responsibility amongst Grampian businesses. "I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to encourage new partnerships between local business and local community groups because, together, we can transform the way we work and the way we live in Grampian."
