Rockin' Rollin' Christmas Trade Fair

Judges and Royston Nursery

Saint Roch’s New Learning Community showed off their skills at their Christmas Trade Fair which was held in St Roch’s Secondary School on 20th November.  Each year pupils from the New Learning Community show what a talented and enterprising bunch they are throughout National Enterprise Week, and this year decided to sell their wares to their peers, parents and guests at a Christmas Fair Event while competing with each other for various awards for enterprise.

It was a difficult task for the judging panel, made up by representative from SBC business partners who already support our work in the school – Joanne Oliphant from John Lewis, Jennifer Adams from McGrigors, Lisa McAllister and Lesley Muir from Halcrow.  The judges had a very difficult job, but the winners were eventually agreed as:-

Quality Product Award
  •   Royston nursery for handmade Christmas ornaments made by the children
  •  Our Lady of the Assumption Primary for personalised bracelets
Business Enterprise Award
  •  St Roch’s Primary School for offering both adult and junior versions of a mug gift set
  • St Roch’s S3 group for offering various Christmas stories, written and edited by them
Best Display Stall     St Cuthbert’s Primary who had a very festive stall and even added wheels to turn their stall into a cart
Best Salesperson Claire Mitchell (St Stephens Primary) and Steven McGeoch (St Teresa’s Primary) were praised for their good sales pitches and in depth knowledge of their products.

Once again the pupils from St Rochs New Learning Community showed they are a very talented, enterprising and competitive group.  Well done to everyone who took part!
