Ready Steady Cook at John Paul Academy

20 May 2008

28 pupils from Drumchapel High School took part in Ready Steady Cook (just like on TV) on Wednesday 21st May. This was to raise awareness of healthy eating.  This was arranged through partnership with John Paul Academy and SBC’s Closing The Gap programme.

There were 3 teams consisting of a parent or relative helper with 2 pupils, the teams were the red peppers, green peppers and yellow sweetcorn.  The remaining pupils made up the audience.

The Chef support was provided by the Glasgow charity Food For Thought Glasgow Ltd.  Claire Bannerman was the ‘Ainsley Harriot’ of the day with Audrey ably assisting.

Teams were provided with food kindly donated by Asda Maryhill.

A mixture of delights were made, which were enjoyed by all on the day! All teams worked very hard at the cleaning up as well as the cooking.

Our judges were Sean Neilson and Lil from Asda. Groups were judged on the dish choice, taste, quality and presentation. The judges commented on how it was difficult to pick a winner as they all had worked so hard and put in a huge amount of effort.

The winning team (Red Peppers) and runners up all received prizes.

Thanks noted to all chef’s and judges.
