Introduction to Industry

Strathclyde Police presentation

Over 210 first year pupils from Hillpark Secondary School in Glasgow took part in an Introduction to Industry day, at  their school on 15th November, organised by SBC’s Glasgow based Closing the Gap initiative.

The event was intended to allow pupils to meet local Glasgow employers, find out about the industry that they represent and the various job opportunities they offer.  Each employer also stressed the importance of positive attendance and behaviour records as well as the academic qualifications they look for when recruiting.  They day was action packed and fun, with pupils having the chance to get a little “hands on” experience as well as gather information from the employers.

The event was supported by Strathclyde Police, Chartered Institute of Bankers, The Hunterian Museum, Strathclyde Fire and Rescue, Dogs Trust, HBOS and the Closing the Gap Events team.
