Introduction to Industry for P7 Pupils at John Paul Academy
13 Nov 2007
Over 140 primary 7 pupils from John Paul Academy New Learning Community in Glasgow took part in an Introduction to Industry day, at John Paul Academy on 13th November, organised by SBC’s Glasgow based Closing the Gap initiative.
The event was intended to allow pupils to meet local Glasgow employers, find out about the industry that they represent and the various job opportunities they offer. Each employer also stressed the importance of positive attendance and behaviour records as well as the academic qualifications they look for when recruiting. They day was action packed and fun, with pupils having the chance to get a little “hands on” experience as well as gather information from the employers.
The event was supported by Amey plc, Baker Tilly, Army REME, Royal Navy, Chartered Institute of Bankers, Glasgow Metropolitan College, Lush, Central College of Commerce, Scottish Trade Unions Congress and Strathclyde Fire and Rescue.
