Introduction to Industry at Drumchapel High

03 April 2008

Over 110 primary 7 pupils from Drumchapel High New Learning Community in Glasgow took part in an Introduction to Industry day, at Drumchapel Community Centre on 11th March, organised by SBC’s Glasgow based Closing the Gap initiative.

The event was intended to allow pupils to meet local Glasgow employers, find out about the industry that they represent and the various job opportunities they offer.  Each employer also stressed the importance of positive attendance and behaviour records as well as the academic qualifications they look for when recruiting.  They day was action packed and fun, with pupils having the chance to get a little “hands on” experience as well as gather information from the employers.

The event was supported by Army Technical and Logistics, Chartered Institute of Bankers, Royal Navy, Scottish Environmental Protection Agency and Strathclyde Fore and Rescue.
