Glasgow schools need your business skills!

22 Feb 2008

SBC Glasgow's innovative Closing the Gap programme is undertaking a huge task of linking businesses in with schools on behalf of the Skills for Work (Vocational) team at Glasgow City Council over the next 2 months.

1. Mock Interviews:

First of all, during the month of March, we are trying to organise a Mock Interview for all pupils who are coming to the end of their 2 year Vocational Training Programme.

They are looking for people with experience in the following sectors who would be willing to carry out Mock Interviews.

Sectors for Mock Interviews:

  • Hospitality
  • Engineering
  • Construction
  • Early Years Education
  • Hairdressing
  • Sports and Recreation
  • Horticulture

The interviews would normally be held in the work place but Closing the Gap would be able to arrange premises for the interviews.

2. Industry Insight Talks

During the month April Closing the Gap are organising for Industry Insight talks to all pupils coming to the end of their first year Vocational Training Programme.

Again these should be from people with experience within specific sectors, and are intended to give pupils a wee bit more information about working within that industry, etc.

Sectors for the Industry Insight Talks:

  • Construction
  • Early Years Education
  • Hairdressing
  • Administration
  • Horticulture
  • Hospitality

These will be held in the college that the pupils are already attending.
