Book shared between four schools across Europe

On Thursday 4th September 2008, an event was held to launch a book produced by former P7 pupils of Balornock Primary School and pupils from schools in Slovakia, Spain, Germany and Italy.  The title of the book is - Sammy the Snail Visits Europe.

 The event was attended by: 

  • Baillie Matheson, Convenor of Education, Glasgow City Council
  • Teresa Flavin, Author
  • Representatives from Harper Collins
  • Representative from Warburtons Scotland
  • Representatives from Scottish Business in the Community
  • Phyllis Harley, Headteacher & Mairi Campbell, Teacher, Balornock Primary School
  • Former P7 pupils of Balornock Primary School

The pupils received certificates presented by Baillie Matheson. 

Other companies involved but unable to attend the event were:

  • British Council
  • The Scottish Book Trust
  • Glasgow Caledonian University

This project was facilitated by SBC's Closing the Gap project in Glasgow. The book will be launched simultaneously at the schools in Slovakia, Spain, Germany and Italy over the coming weeks.
