Welcome to SBC from Chief Executive Jane Wood

Responsible business practice has never been more important. Scottish Business in the Community is the only organisation that can lead the way in corporate responsibility in Scotland and, after serving 7 years as a Board Director, I am delighted to have the opportunity to shape SBC’s future as its Chief Executive.

Now is the time to renew our focus and realise our vision for socially and environmentally responsible business practice. We know that the most successful companies are those that act with integrity and that this ethos informs the very core of their operations. Our message is loud and clear. Corporate social responsibility is not an option. The future and how we shape it is our challenge and opportunity.

We will step up to the mark. Businesses want clear and effective guidance and we are here to provide it. They want to be able to see the real and practical benefits of CSR. We can give more businesses the opportunity to take a fresh look at CSR as a compelling proposition. Our products and services can, and do, impact on business performance. We can make the most of this impact by helping our members promote their achievements in CSR and inspire others with the success stories.

Scottish Business in the Community and our member companies will influence the way Scotland delivers its responsible and sustainable business agenda. We will broker and challenge in all areas of best business practice. In partnership with central and local government we will make Scotland a recognised leader in the global economy, exemplifying a new business model that is profitable and wealth generating without the need to degenerate our natural resources or undermine human endeavor.  Companies that ‘do right’ will do well.
