What does Responsible Business mean? And what has happened to the term CSR/CR?

Scottish Business in the Community defines responsible business as the process by which a company manages, measures and reports its commitment to improve its positive impact on society and the environment. This is managed within the company through its operations, products or services and through its interaction with key stakeholders such as employees, customers, investors and suppliers.

CSR/CR suggests that this process is separate from the mainstream business. We believe that to be successful and sustainable businesses, this must be integrated into the very heart of the business and not left as a separate function or responsibility.
