Tackling inequality and economic disadvantage is vital to achieve sustainable economic growth and by equipping Scotland's citizens with the skills and attributes they need to become economically active we can help to ensure individuals are able to secure a living wage and quality of life while contributing to the Scottish economy.

In line with the Scottish Government's approach to addressing these issues, this event in partnership with MITIE Group Plc and Network Rail, will examine the root causes and debate how a coordinated approach to fairer employment and community investment will provide more opportunities to raise prosperity in Scotland.

Scottish Business in the Community is working in partnership with the Scottish Government Tackling Poverty Board to further develop its current framework for SME engagement and have recently commissioned research to identify barriers in actively tackling inequality and economic disadvantage.

The Business Breakfast will follow the Annual General Meeting and cover the theme of Economic Disadvantage in the Age of Austerity with the aim of presenting research findings and encouraging dialogue and debate on the benefits of business intervention through vocational training. The session aims to identify how we can work together to find solutions and foster greater action.
