Every year, SBC's Awards for Excellence and Company of the Year Awards reward those businesses who demonstrate outstanding responsible business practise. In the current economic climate, the Awards give forward thinking businesses the opportunity to strengthen their reputation, right to trade and sustainability credentials. A business tool that measures impact while providing robust and highly regarded external verification. Highest scorers are awarded the 'Big Tick', which is being used by hundreds of businesses all over the UK to compete for customers, contracts and staff.
The awards are the main way in which SBC identifies and celebrates good practice in Corporate Responsibility throughout Scotland.
There are two types of Awards:
- UK Awards for Excellence
- SBC Company of the Year Awards
How to enter
Scottish Business in the Community’s Awards for Excellence and Company of the Year Awards are now open for entries! Entry into the Awards for Excellence is made online at www.bitc.org.uk/awards where application packs are now available to download. The closing date for applications is 6th March 2009. Awards Workshops and Surgeries
Come and see us at one of our Awards Workshops between now and January 2009 for guidance on your application. The awards are not easy to get and the workshops will really help you out! Our Awards Workshops are designed to help companies find out how to enter the awards, become an assessor and are a great networking opportunity. Workshops are held throughout the country every year from November through to January.

The events are free of charge for SBC member companies. Non-member companies are welcome to attend but should note that there will be a charge of £35 + VAT for private-sector companies and £25 + VAT for not-for-profit and voluntary organisations.
Also on offer are Awards Surgeries - an opportunity for a one-to-one consultation on your Awards submission with SBC Development Manager Karen Davidson. These are also chargeable for non-members at a cost of £65 + VAT. Please email events@sbcscot.com for more info or to book an awards surgery.
