Deputy Chief Executive & Director of Operations - Dr. Malcolm Thomson
Malcolm has extensive experience in business management from start-ups and SMEs to larger multinational companies and the public sector organisations. A graduate and post graduate PhD in engineering, Malcolm has developed key skills in Business Improvement & Quality Management, having been responsible for winning a Quality Scotland Business Excellence Award for SME Memory Corporation and a DTi award for a knowledge transfer partnership run through Napier University. Malcolm has held board level positions in a number of UK and US technology companies and senior management posts in companies such as BAE Systems.
External Relations Manager - Lisa Dransfield
Lisa has over 15 years experience in communications with a background in journalism (BBC TV & Radio), corporate PR and media consultancy. She joined SBC after 18 months working as a PR advisor to a number of businesses from small start-ups to national, established brands. At SBC she has responsibility for all external relations, account management, public affairs and events. Lisa is the first point of contact for all media enquiries, as well as information about member organisations.
Programmes Manager - Veronica Ferguson
Veronica joined Scottish Business in the Community in April 2007 to take up the role of Programmes Manager, supporting the development and delivery of SBC’s programmes of activity. Veronica has been involved with the development and delivery of funded programmes for a number of years, working with the Scottish Adult Learning Partnership, Stevenson College Edinburgh, West Edinburgh Pathfinder and Fife Council. Social Inclusion and supporting individuals to fulfil their potential have been key drivers throughout her career, so the role with SBC is an exciting opportunity to engage with Corporate Responsibility in this context.
Development Manager - Karen Davidson
Karen has a degree in economics and enjoyed a varied career to date, through positions in the areas of fashion buying, arts administration, training and development, and urban renewal. Through her work she has crossed sectors and the Atlantic.
At SBC Karen's is responsible for the development of new programmes in the areas of Employability, Small and Medium sized businesses, Environment, CR Training and Education.
Account Relationship Manager - Claire Howe
Claire joined SBC in July 2006 after six years as a Recruitment Consultant with a long-established and ethically driven Edinburgh recruitment agency. Previous to this, she enjoyed 9 years within sales and marketing for Sheraton hotels and Continental Airlines.
Claire’s role is to work closely with our members, to develop their interest and involvement within the CSR arena. She works alongside Lisa Dransfield and is a member of the sales and marketing team.
Communications & Events Co-ordinator - Caryn Robertson
Caryn graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2004 with a First Class Honours degree in History and Politics. Before joining SBC in May 2007, Caryn spent two years working as a Campaigns Officer with The Scottish Waste Awareness Group.
As the Communications and Events Coordinator for SBC, Caryn works within the External Relations team with Lisa Dransfield and Claire Howe.
Employability Manager - Maree Drury
Maree joined SBC in Oct 2006 after several years in Financial Services recruitment, both London and Edinburgh. Prior to joining SBC Maree worked with a successful local 'back to work' initiative for clients with depression, anxiety or stress-related problems. Maree's academic background is in Occupational and Organisational Psychology gained from Victoria University in New Zealand. At SBC Maree is part of the Employability Team and is in a joint role with The Scottish Centre For Healthy Working Lives. She is responsible for providing an effective link between Scottish employers and the range of voluntary and statutory groups working to promote employment for disadvantaged groups and those with health related problems. Through a partnership with SCHWL, Scottish Executive and through developing and promoting best practice, raising awareness and acting in an advocacy role.
Programme Manager, Small Business - John Leitch
John joined SBC in August 2004, after several years in consumer goods marketing with KLP Euro RSCG and Scottish Courage.
SBC secured funding from Scottish Enterprise to pilot and launch CommunityMark in Scotland over the next three years, and John joined Karen's Development team to manage its introduction. He will also be assisting Scottish Enterprise in promoting responsible business practice to small and medium-sized businesses, and getting involved in work with the Small Business Consortium. John also manages several member organisations.
Programme Coordinator, Ready for Work - Chloe Shand
Chloe Shand joined SBC in August 2006. Leaving her native Aberdeen, Chloe worked as the local agency partner delivering Ready For Work within Aberdeen Foyer where her remit was moving excluded groups into education, training or employment. Chloe's background is within outreach education delivering academic courses in social issues in the community.
Programme Co-ordinator, Employer Supported Volunteering - Ailsa Flynn
Ailsa joined Scottish Business in the Community in January 2008 and provides support to the Cares programme manager by working closely with various community partners to provide a range of volunteering opportunities for our employer supported volunteering programme.
Ailsa graduated from the University of Glasgow with a degree in Scottish Literature and Celtic Civilisations. In her previous roles, Ailsa has worked as an Administrator for a firm of accountants and in a University library.
Programme Manager, Employer Supported Volunteering - James Tindell
James had previously worked in a range of sectors, including voluntary placements abroad and managing an IT helpdesk in a Scottish University. Having completed the HBOS graduate training scheme and working for a year in the executive office James started with SBC in October 2006.
James has responsibility for the Cares programme which promotes employer supported volunteering and supports member companies with developing their own programmes and policy. Cares main focus is on providing bespoke volunteer brokerage services to member companies across a wide range of activities.
Office Manager - Evelyn Rorie
Areas of responsibility at SBC are HR, Finance, Administration, Health & Safety and Facilities.
Evelyn is a graduate in Export Studies & Languages from Napier University and is an associate member of Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development. Evelyn joined SBC in November 2001 after more than 3 years in the recruitment industry where she was at Team Leader/Recruitment Consultant with Margaret Hodge Recruitment. Previous roles included 3 years as an Assistant to a Manager at the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Finance & Office Support Assistant - Andrew Spiller
Andrew recently graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a Master of Arts with upper second class (2.1) honours in Management Studies. Andrew started with SBC in July 2006 and this role is Andrew’s first fulltime permanent role since finishing his education.
Andrew joined SBC at the end of July 2006 and will be provides support to the Office Manager. This is a varied role with a remit which covers areas such as Finance, HR, Facilities, Health and Safety and Administration.
