The low carbon journey

Businesses are responsible for 40% of the UK’s carbon emissions. The potential impact of their carbon reduction activities is therefore huge. Not only can businesses reduce their own CO2 emissions, but they can influence their peers and the greater public by mobilising their suppliers, employees and customers on climate change.

The following pages map out a low carbon journey that gives mid-sized and larger businesses a step-by-step approach to tackling climate change. For each step, we explain the benefits of taking action, practical advice on what to do, examples of what businesses are already doing, and details of where you can go for further support.

Although small-to-medium sized enterprises (SMEs) will also find these pages useful, they may be interested in visiting the Small Business Journey website which has further examples of how SMEs can take action.
