Reduce emissions with your sector
As part of the May Day Network, Scottish Business in the Community is working with sectors to pool their efforts in tailored collaborative initiatives, providing the necessary support to take bold action on climate change.
Sector initiatives can take the form of a one-off event or a longer-term process and can be driven by ‘sector champions’ and industry associations, with support from Business in the Community and partner organisations. Current sector collaborations include:
The legal sector – Legal Sector Alliance
The legal profession is collaborating on climate change through the Legal Sector Alliance. Led by DLA Piper, the Law Society and Business in the Community, the Alliance aims to take a leadership role in driving environmental sustainability in the legal sector, initially by developing high level commitments and guidance.

The insurance sector – ClimateWise Principles
Insurance companies have collaborated on climate change to develop the ClimateWise principles. Developed by a Working Group consisting of the Association of British Insurers and The Prince of Wales's Business and the Environment Programme, the principles encourage greater climate-friendly behaviour among customers and the consideration of climate change in investment strategy and risk analysis. 38 companies have signed-up to date.
