The Prince of Wales's May Day Business Summit on Climate Change 2008

On 1st May 2008, over 100 of Scotland's top business leaders pledged to take action on climate change at the second HRH May Day Business Summit on Climate Change. The event was a reconvening of the May Day Network - a national movement of businesses taking a lead in moving the U.K. toward a low carbon economy.

The Summit
Twelve Summit gatherings across the UK, including Scotland and Wales, were linked by live video to a London “hub” event attended by 160 Chief Executives of leading global businesses.  The event provided an opportunity to report on progress businesses made since the 2007 May Day Summit and share examples of companies that are finding solutions to climate change.

Pledging to take action

On the day, over 100 Scottish businesses made pledges to take action within their companies and with their employees, suppliers and customers.  In Scotland, over 300 pledges were made. By pledging to take action and committing to reporting back in a years time, these companies agreed to join SBC’s May Day Network. Click here for a list of May Day Pledges.
