Benefits of May Day membership

By becoming a member of the May Day Network, companies join the UK’s largest group of businesses and organisations committed to taking action on climate change. Businesses can join at any time for FREE.

SUPPORT

The pledges offer a framework through which you can direct your actions in tackling climate change. SBC is compiling case studies to give examples of how companies are engaging suppliers, customers and employees. Your case study could be featured, bringing PR benefits. An ongoing media strategy will provide information to journalists about companies in the May Day Network and offer case studies of good practice to inspire others.

You will have access to web-based, practical guidance on climate change that will also be suitable for your suppliers and small business customers.

SBC will organise practical workshops outlining how you can mobilise your company, suppliers, employees and customers to take action. You can host a workshop to share ideas and best practice.

BROKER

You will be invited to HRH The Prince of Wales's May Day Business Summit on Climate Change once a year to hear the latest thinking from key business thinkers in the field. You will share and learn from other businesses facing the same challenges in tackling climate change.

You will be encouraged to join or begin sector initiatives on climate change to maximise the power of collective action by companies. An example of a May Day sector initiative is the legal sector alliance which we are hoping to establish in Scotland.

SBC can signpost those May Day Companies who require help in tackling their climate change impacts to partner organisations such as Carbon Trust (Scotland), Energy Saving Trust, Energy Saving Scotland, Envirowise and BEP (Business Environment Partnership).

CHALLENGE

Your company will be challenged to make annual pledges on May 1st and then report back to HRH The Prince of Wales against these. By doing this your company will be able to use the prestigious May Day Network logo.

You will then be encouraged to engage your top suppliers and offered web-based tools to engage them on the topic of climate change.
